Association Akim Jerusalem was founded in 1951 and offers care and support to people with intellectual disabilities of all ages and levels of functioning and their families. Services to various organization include an accommodation with three hostels and 17 apartments throughout Jerusalem. Frames housing in the community are a "home for life" and provide residents all the services they need to ensure they have high quality of life and well-being and physical. tenants who go to work in different capacities, some in sheltered workshops and other open market, and when they returned they enjoy leisure activities in various fields. association also provides support services to help families cope with the needs of care of their families: services mentors visitors in families and workers, one-on-one with a child or adult with a mental retardation living at home, "home away from home" for families raising a child with mental retardation, where children receive dedicated care package tours for several hours to days, and afternoon program for children with mental retardation.
