Umm Tuba Valley

Wide open valleys southeast of the city, including a combination of desert flora and fauna, and ancient olive groves. An expansive natural area with scenic views, rich in plant and animal species including fields, ancient olive groves, and characteristic semi-arid scrubland covered with prickly burnet and other desert shrubs. Rich biodiversity site, mainly because of its size, wealth and diversification of natural habitats, and location near the edge of the city and the desert. The site is home to a population of Israeli gazelle. Suspected nesting ground  for buzzard birds of prey.

Urban Nature Survey Site No. 78.
Situated between the Umm Tuba and Har Homa neighborhoods. Pedestrian access.
