Old City Markets

The Old City Markets, situated within the Old City Walls, actually comprise two types of markets: retail markets that cater to the local population, and tourist markets. The tourist markets line the main streets, where most of the tourist traffic flow: David and Hashalshelet Streets: Hanotzrim and El Hanaka Streets; and the Cardo. They offer a wide variety of Middle Eastern souvenirs, clothing, accessories, jewelry, ceramics, toys, pictures, as well as religious artifacts representative of the three monotheistic faiths. The retail markets are mainly in the Muslim Quarter. These typically Middle Eastern markets cater mainly to the local population. They sell fresh fruit and vegetables, clothing, housewares, shoes, candy, music discs, and more. They are scattered along Hagai and Beit Habad Streets (Suk Chan a Zeit), and include the spice market. The markets are not wheelchair accessible.
