Kidron Valley

Extensive system of canyons in the desert, east of the Mount of Olives. Natural open space with buildings scattered in several places. Private courtyards with cultivated gardens and mature trees alongside natural shrubs and indigenous trees and plants such as the Israeli pistacia, amaranthus and sumac, characteristic of local desert scrubland. Rocky desert landscape less prevalent in the built up areas. Ground covered with prickly burnet and other desert shrubs. Olive groves dot the valley in a good number of places. Important natural habitat being diminished due to urbanization. Different species of birds, desert as well as Mediterranean. Accessible by car, parking available
